Aboveground Petroleum Storage Act

Aboveground Petroleum Storage

California state law (the Aboveground Petroleum Storage Act - APSA) defines a "Tank Facility" as a facility that stores 1,320 gallons or more of petroleum in aboveground storage tanks (including drums 55-gallons in size or greater). The Environmental Health Division of the Mariposa County Health Department, as the CUPA, regulates businesses storing petroleum in aboveground containers and tanks. Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans are required for "Tank Facilities". Tank facilities are either Qualified or Non-Qualified depending on the amount of petroleum product stored.
