What & How to Recycle at Transfer Stations

Place the items below in the co-mingled recycling bin.

• Mixed Paper (Dry Only)
  Office paper, newspaper, magazines, manila folders,
  paper bags, shredded paper, catalogs, calendars
  NO: plastic or wax coated paper, tissues, paper towels
• Glass Bottles and Jars (Rinsed and Dried)
  NO: Window or auto glass, mirrors, drinking glasses, light bulbs, ceramics, picture glass
  knick-knacks, lead crystal or glass other than bottles or jars.
• Number 1 Plastic (PETE) (Rinsed and Dried)
  Water bottles; any food, personal product or household cleaner
  containers labeled Number 1. Caps OK.
• Number 2 Plastic (HDPE) (Rinsed and Dried)
  Milk jugs; any food, personal product or household cleaner
  containers labeled Number 2. Rinsed and dried. Lids OK.
• Number 3-7 Plastic (Rinsed and Dried)
  Any food, personal product or household cleaner containers
  labeled with a Number 3 through Number 7. Lids OK.
  NO: Styrofoam, food-contaminated items, tarps, toys,
  unnumbered plastic, plastic bags, auto fluid containers,
  chairs, swimming pools, PVC pipe or other large items
• Cardboard and Chipboard (Dry Only)
  Corrugated cardboard, such as cartons, and chipboard items
  such as mailing and toilet tissue tubes, cookie and cracker
  boxes, egg cartons
  NO: Plastic lined or waxed materials, such as milk and juice
  cartons, or food contaminated items, such as pizza boxes
• Metal and Aluminum
  Cans (rinsed and dried), coat hangers, small empty propane tanks,
  bottle caps, empty aerosol cans, clean aluminum foil. Tell
  attendant if you have large items for the scrap metal pile.

Specially Handled Items

The following recyclable materials are not allowed to be disposed of as household trash or placed in the co-mingled recyclables bin. A fee is charged for items marked with an * to cover handling costs.
